Citrix Workspace app for Linux - Preview 2505

What’s new

Supporting Linux distributions

Citrix Workspace app for Linux version 2505 is supported on the following Linux distributions:

  • openSUSE 15.6 x86-64
  • RHEL 9.4 x86-64
  • Ubuntu 2204 x86-64
  • Ubuntu 2404 x86-64
  • Raspberry Pi OS Bullseye, arm64
  • Debian 11.9 x86-64
  • Debian 12 to 12.6 x86-64

Improved proxy handling with FQDN support

Starting with 2505 version, Citrix Workspace app sends the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) of the target host in the CONNECT request to the proxy server when the target host is addressable by an FQDN.

Previously, Citrix Workspace app only sent the resolved IP address of the target host. This enhancement enables the proxy server to handle DNS resolution, supporting scenarios that require custom DNS configurations for specific domains.

Enhancement to Fullscreen or Extend button behavior

Starting with the 2505 version, the Fullscreen or Extend button adjusts display behavior based on the current configuration:

  • When labeled Fullscreen, it maximizes the window to a single display if only one screen is in use. If positioned at a screen border, it extends across multiple displays.
  • When labeled Extend, it expands the session to all displays, or a custom layout selected in the Multi-Monitor Selector.
  • The button label switches to Extend when the Multi-Monitor Selector is set to “Extend to all displays” or a “Custom Layout” option while in windowed mode.
  • Display configurations persist even if monitors are unplugged, as long as a subset of the original configuration remains connected.

This feature is enabled by default.

New storebrowse commands to create an autostart entry for boot-to-virtual-desktop

Starting with 2505 version, to create an autostart entry for boot-to-virtual-desktopp on endpoints, use the storebrowse command with the following syntax, depending on your Citrix Workspace app version:

For Citrix Workspace app version 2503:

./desktoplock <storeURL> <resourceName>
<!--NeedCopy-->

For Citrix Workspace app version 2505 and later:

./desktoplock --storeUrl <storeURL> --resource <resourceName>
<!--NeedCopy-->

Loss tolerant mode for graphics (Technical Preview)

Starting with Version 2505, this feature enables Citrix Workspace app for Linux to use the loss tolerant mode for graphics in Citrix sessions, improving the video experience, particularly in poor network conditions.

Loss tolerant mode for graphics improves performance by allowing Citrix applications to handle video and graphics better, even when the network connection isn’t strong. For users who work remotely or in areas with unreliable networks, this feature ensures that graphics‑heavy applications remain usable without major performance issues like lag or pixelation.

With this feature, you can do the following:

  • Access and use applications seamlessly, even in unstable network conditions, without major interruptions.
  • Enjoy smoother visuals and quicker response times, leading to a more productive and less frustrating work environment.
  • Work from anywhere without sacrificing application quality, regardless of network conditions.

This feature is disabled by default. To enable this feature, do the following:

  1. Navigate to the $HOME/.ICAClient/wfclient.ini folder.
  2. Go to the [Thinwire3.0] section.
  3. Add the following entry:

Note:

Features in the Technical Preview are available to use in non-production or limited production environments, and to give customers an opportunity to share feedback. Citrix does not accept support cases for features in technical preview but welcomes feedback for improving them. Citrix might act on feedback based on its severity, criticality, and importance.

Fixed issues

  • During FIDO2 authentication, if you wait too long before scanning the displayed QR code, the QR code might expire. After expiration, there is no option to refresh or regenerate the QR code from the current screen. As a result, you cannot proceed with the login and must close and restart the authentication process to try again. [CVADHELP-27853]

  • When using a Cloud Store with long-lived tokens disabled, you might experience authentication failures after logging in. This issue is particularly evident on Thin Client devices, where a “Session Launch Failed” error is displayed. [CVADHELP-27583]

  • You might be prompted to re-authenticate on the redirected Browser Content Redirection (BCR) page, even if you have already authenticated on the VDA side in another tab. [CVADHELP-27449]

  • You might be unable to launch a second seamless application if the Windows VDA is not configured to use the CP1252 character encoding (Windows Western European standard). [CVADHELP-27803]
